The Beekeeper

By the Beekeeper’s Wife :)

Nathan Prueitt became interested in beekeeping when he realized the benefit of having bees for his backyard garden. So when a neighbor had a tumbleweed in his yard with a swarm of bees on it, he called Nathan to see if he wanted the bees. Nathan got on his brand new beekeeping suit that he bought that day, moved the bees from the tumbleweed into a hive box, and Tumbleweed Bees was born.

Nathan has worked hard to provide his bees with an environment that will keep the bees happy and healthy, which isn’t easy during the dry, hot summers in West Texas. Nathan diligently works to provide water sources for the bees year-round, and he finds pollen and sugar sources to keep the bees fed when there are no natural fauna sources in bloom. He also continually seeks to improve his beekeeping practice by researching and learning as much as he can about the bees.

Tumbleweed Bees has been a family operation since 2019 when that first swarm of bees rolled into our neighbor’s yard on a tumbleweed.
