Honeybee Educational Presentations

Bring the world of honeybees into your classroom.  Tumbleweed Bees offers educational presentations for public secondary / primary schools, home school classes, and universities across the Lubbock area.  Presentations are taught by our beekeeper, Nathan Prueitt, a West Texas beekeeper who manages hives in West Texas.  

What Students Learn

Presentations can cover how a honeybee colony works, the roles of the queen, workers, and drones, how bees make honey and beeswax, and why pollinators matter to agriculture and the food we eat.  For older students and university classes, topics can include beekeeping as a business, pollination research, and careers in agriculture and entomology.

Tailored to Your Group

No two classrooms are the same.  Whether you're teaching kindergartners or college seniors, we'll build the presentation around your students' age, your curriculum, and your time frame.  Tell us what you want your students to walk away with, and we'll make it happen.

Add an Observation Hive

Want your students to see real bees at work?  Add a live observation hive to your presentation.  It's a glass-walled hive that lets students watch honeybees build comb, care for their young, and search for the queen, all safely behind glass.
